We,
mostly, live our life on materialistic basis. We are excellent in social
interactions, business transactions and analyzing the solid objects. Hardly, we
know about emotions which are invisible and priceless. Generally, we think that
human life is driven by money, government and business and so on. But, in
reality, every human life is driven and governed by the emotions that may be
either positive or negative. Feelings of romance, Compassion, Fear, Anger,
Enthusiasm are few such emotions. We can say that human beings are the puppets
of their own desires, needs and emotions- the fact which we ourselves are
unaware most of the time. Emotions are born from the fulfillment or
non-fulfillment of our needs. Humor or Sense of humor is one such powerful,
unique and positive quality of humankind. In fact, it is a boon to human beings.
Practically,
all of us know the value of sense of humor. Same time, humor is always
underrated. Thanks to the social status, education title, and age etc – we try
to inhibit the sense of humor. We don’t express it and tend to control our
laughter. When I engage in some deeper conversations with few of my friends, I
used to say that ‘ What is this?, It is just a drama ‘. What I try to mean is
‘our job title, position in the society, our own principles of life, the
rich/poor ‘– everything is just fitting we attach to ourselves artificially
since we are inevitably a part of social system. Spinazo,a remarkable philosopher noted that ' high/low, rich/poor, beautiful/ugly -all two extremes ' are not really true, they are only formations of idea or concepts in human mind. Originally at the very
fundamental level- that is in terms of needs and its satisfaction, the pleasure
we derive from need gratification, birth/death – Every one of us is precisely
equally same. A respected Swamiji 'Shri paramahamsa Yoganandar' advocated in a
simple manner:- 'Don't take the life too serious'.
Research
studies show that many ‘rare’ hormones similar to dopamine, serotonin secrete
from brain and from the endocrine glands during the act of sexual coitus which
are highly beneficial to mental health and physical well-being. Similarly, I
presume that when we laugh freely at jokes/comedies and when we engage in funny
activities without any inhibition in mind– same kind of hormones will secrete.
Those chemical substances will spread throughout our cells, immune system and
might cure many diseases and probably prevent diseases by strengthening immune
system. I also suppose that medical researches are being carried out on this
line. Dr.Eric berne, one of a influential psychologists and founder of
‘Transactional Analysis’ in Psychology proposed that ‘ a little professor’ is
sleeping inside every man and woman. That little professor is a child who if
gets a chance is ready to make fun, be rebellion, be joyful. Recently, I read
one book named ‘Life is a gift’ written by Gill Edwards. Definitely, Life is a
gift when it is with filled positive, joyful emotions. Life is really a celebration, When
are able to laugh like ‘exploding’.
