Brief Life History of Vethathiri Maharishi...









G.V.Vethathiri was born in 1911 in a simple weaver’s family in a village,30 km south to Madras. It is a Orthodox Hindu family.

He had no formal education because of the poor condition of his family.

He never gave up his self-effort and self-learning as later he became a Qualified Physician in Siddha,Ayurveda and Homeopathy medicine systems by his own interest and effort with the help of Dr.Krishna rao, his first guru.

There are always few questions in his mind for which he was striving to find answers consistently. Specifically, those questions are: 1. What is God? 2. What is Life? 3. Why is there Poverty among people?

Around his age 30, He worked in a Postal Audit Office in Madras on a meager salary.

Around his age 40, He owned a Textile Concern employing around 2000 workers.

He learnt Mediation from Dr.Krishnarao at the age around 20.

He learnt Meditation Techniques properly from a Spiritual Master namely Paranjothi Mahan at his age 34..

Several years of intense and solitary meditation and introspection of mind brought him full enlightment at the age of 35. 


In the successive years, he clearly understood the Secrets of Mind and Secrets of Universe and he obtained a holistic view about the philosophy of life -one by one.


But at the age of 50, due to unforeseen circumstances beyond his control, he was compelled to close his Textile Concern. After a brief period of attendant difficulties, he decided, it was a sign to change his life style entirely and took up the task of teaching and writing to help others of sincere spiritual education sharing his experiences and divine revelations of truth.

In 1958, he founded The World Community Service Centre in Madras for spreading his teachings. He designed a Unique System of Yoga called Manavalakkalai Yoga for which a small note will be given later in the following pages.

Over the past 50 years, over thousands of branches of World Community Service Centre have been formed in India and Abroad.

They are popularly known as Temple of Consciousness.                                           
(Tamil: Arivu Thiru Kovil).

He has extensively visited all over Tamilnadu and India for teaching his Uniquely designed Manavalakkalai Yoga . From 1972 to 1993, he visited annually, lecturing and teaching extensively in Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and USA.

He visited USA as many as 22 times for teaching his Simplified Kundalini Yoga.

As a divinely inspired poet, he wrote more than  2000 poems in Tamil.

He has contributed Tamil Literature to a great extent by his Intuitive and divinely inspired poems and books of spiritual nature.


He wrote nearly 75 books both in Tamil and English covering the subjects Philosophy,Psychology,Economics,Sociology,Cosmology, Physics etc.


He was the author of a monthly magazine namely ‘Anboli’ in Tamil and English Version for bringing his concepts to the public.


In 1972, he gave a lecture about the Simplified Kundalini Yoga Meditation for mental peace in the United Nations Organization.

Several years back, he was recommended by a American scientist for the Nobel Prize for his ‘Theory of Unified Force’ (Gravity) .



Nearly 55 years ,he has been contributing for the World Peace through the teachings and Writings of his Spiritual education and Philosophy.. He has given elaborate explanations for achieving world peace in a step by step manner in his book known as ‘World Peace’ and a book ‘ Blue print for World Peace’.



He left his earthly abode at the age 95. Just before three weeks about his demise, he finished writing a book ‘History of  Transformation of God’ in Tamil.

Vethathiri Maharishi himself arranged a number of conferences/meetings in various Universities of USA and India about his ‘Theory of Unified Force’, Concepts of Space, Energy particle, Magnetism and Nature of Human mind and World Peace Plans.

            10.Coimbatore Institute of Technology,Coimbatore.
            11.Gandhigram Rural
                 University,Gandhigramam,Dindugal.

As a honorific, he is reverently known by the name, ‘ ‘Thathuvagnani Vethathiri Maharishi’ by his admirers.

In his early days, he was called ‘Yogiraj Vethathiri Maharishi’.

He is also popularly known as ‘Common Man’s Philosopher’ due to the simplicity in his philosophy and yogic techniques.

Dravidian University,Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh has conferred him a Superior Honorary Title – ’19th  Siddhar’ in a Conference held on 2006. ( It is a tradition in South India to mention the number of Siddhars as 18. ).

Vethathiri Maharishi established a Educational Institute namely ‘Vethathiri Maharishi Institute for Spiritual and Intuitional Education’ at Aaliyar, Pollachi, Coimbatore District, India in the Year 2004. It is a Educational Wing of World Community Service Centre, Madras. Shortly known as VISION.

His Simplified Physical Exercise, Kayakalpa, Kundalini Yoga ,Introspection Techniques and His Philosophy of Space (Gravity), Energy ,Mass, Nature of Mind and Reformation Ideas in Economics, Politics, Education and World Peace Plans have been compacted and designed by VISION as a Curriculum Syllabus.

This syllabus is being offered as Diploma / B.A. / M.A./ B.Sc ./ M.Sc / M.Phil / Ph.D. Courses in collaboration with nearly Ten Universities in India. So far, 50000 students have obtained these degrees and diplomas and now thousands of students are presently (Approx. nos.) studying these courses.

    2. His name is Paranjothi Mahan. He belongs to Madurai. He established 'Ulaga Samadhana Aalayam' at madurai and later he shifted to Chennai. It is only him who introduced the 'Santhi Thavam' properly to the world. Presently also, his centre functions in Thivotriyur ,chennai. Maharishi had close contact with paranjothi mahan for several years. His concepts impacted much on the philosophy of maharishi. You could find much more details on the web.
